28 January 2000

Let me first say that I am sorry to be late with information concerning the PUS workshop here in Copenhagen that a few of us decided to pursue when we met in London just before Christmas. But we here in the Nordic countries have really been busy these last days in finalizing a research preparatory proposal to NOS-S. It seems that we will get it in just in time.

All outside participants will stay at Hotel Kong Arthur, Norre Søgade 11, tel 45/33 11 12 12, fax 45/33 32 61 30. The Hotel is conveniently located in the vicinity of the sociology deparment in the center of Copenhagen If you come by air, do consider the fast train from Kastrup Airport into Copenhagen City: take a train that runs to Helsingor (think of Hamlet), and then get off at Nørreport Station - from there on it will take you ca 6 - 7 minutes to walk to the Hotel Kong Arthur in the direction towards "søerne" (the lakes): to the sociology department about 3-5 minutes. If you take another train, get off at Central Station (Hovedbanegården), and take a taxi to the Hotel or the department. A walk will then take about 15 minutes. The train ticket costs about 15 D kr, a taxi from the airport to the Hotel (or Department) is about 150 D Kr. A taxi from Central Station to the Hotel (or the Department) probably runs about 60 D kr.

This is our tentative agenda for our meeting here in Copenhagen:

17 February: 18 February:

It is urgent that I get quick feedback from those participants who want to stay at Kong Arthur very soon -- as rooms in central Copenhagen can be a tricky affair. Hotel and traveling are on your own expense accounts.

As soon as I know more firmly who is attending the meeting I´ll send you a list of participants.

I am sure that you all will enjoy Copenhagen in your free time.

So see you here in town soon
